A new baggage check-in facility at Piraeus Port will make traveling home for thousands of travelers a bit easier.

Dubbed “In Town Check In,” a new facility will allow tourists arriving from dozens of Greek island destinations who are flying out of Athens airport to check their suitcases and receive their boarding passes.

Luggage will be shipped directly to the airport. The service is available one full day before a departing flight, or up to two hours before departure time.

The In Town Check In terminal is located at Piraeus Port, near port gates E2 and E3.

The service can be used by anyone that has a flight departing from Athens Airport and doesn’t want to transport their checked bags with them, including incoming ferry passengers who have a departing flight, cruise passengers or residents of Piraeus flying somewhere.

Spirit World Group, the company that runs the program, announced that plans are also in the works to launch a similar service from the center of Athens, with other destinations such as Crete and elsewhere on mainland Greece in the pipeline.

The service gives visitors to the country the opportunity to maximize their last days and hours right until the last hours without having to drag their luggage around with them and gives locals who live near the drop-off facility a chance to travel to the airport without carrying their suitcases.
