Competition to fill those airline seats and grab that consumer cash is ripe between Greece’s two major airline players, Aegean Airlines and Sky Express. If you’re a last-minute planning kind of person then this isn’t for you. But if you like planning ahead and like big discounts on things like flights, then keep reading.

Greece’s two biggest airlines, Aegean and Sky Express, have both launched big sales on airfares that can significantly lower the cost of travel between dozens of international destinations and Greek airports.

Greece-based airline Aegean has launched a new discount promotion that for all flights to and from Greece and all of the carrier’s international destinations for travel between November 1 – January 31, 2024.

The promotion offers a 30% discount on all flights between Greece and international destinations if you book by October 23.

You can access this offer on Aegean’s website and need to use the WINTERFORYOU30 code to get the discount.

The discount requires you to book a round-trip and is not valid on one-ways. The offer is valid for both economy and business class seats, and there are no blackout dates around the Christmas and New Year holiday, which is usually the case for such promotions.

Sky Express is offering 40% discounts on their entire network, which includes dozens of domestic Greek island and mainland destinations, as well as numerous European airports in their ever-expanding network.

Of course, while neither airline operates non-stop to North American or Australian cities where the largest Greek diaspora communities exist, it’s easy to create a deeply-discounted experience with another destination and add that cheap flight to Greece into your plans ti take advantage of the sale.

For example, flights to most European destinations from New York, Chicago and elsewhere in the United States are on at their lowest prices right now across most international carriers. Book a cheap flight to Paris. Actually no. Forget Paris until they solve their bedbug problem.

Let’s say Amsterdam. Get yourself a cheap round trip flight between New York and Amsterdam. Plan that Dutch getaway you’ve always been dreaming about. Anne Frank Museum, those beautiful flower markets, great October music festivals. Then throw in that 3-day jump to Athens at a deeply discounted price round trip to/from Amsterdam. Get your Greek on, eat those souvlakia, visit the family and back to Amsterdam, for your previously-scheduled return flight home.

Of course, this takes some management on your part. You must properly time your connecting flights, and always keep in mind you’re booking two separate tickets and you must take into account things like checked baggage transfers and connection times.

If you already live in Greece, or elsewhere in these two airlines’ networks, you can make some great plans.
