Mykonos and Santorini Break Air Arrivals Records

Greece’s two most globally recognized islands, Mykonos and Santorini, recorded big increases in passengers arriving by air in 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels.

According to the latest statistical bulletin of the Institute of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises, in the period January-November, Greece received 20.8 million international air arrivals, marginally exceeding the levels of January-November 2019, showing a slight increase of +0.8%.

Mykonos recorded an increase of 21.6%, while Santorini’s air passenger arrivals went up by 56.4%, further emphasizing the island’s popularity with international tourists. 

Chania and Corfu were two other destinations that not only exceeded the levels of 2019 in terms of air arrivals from abroad but also achieved impressive growth rates.

In Corfu, international air arrivals went up by 16%, while at Chania airport, arrivals were up 13.7%.

Rhodes recorded an increase of 8.8%, and Kos was up by 5.2%.
