Numerous flights operated by Greek-Canadian startup airline SkyGreece have been canceled or grounded and hundreds of passengers on both sides of the Atlantic are stranded, while the company is silent— except blaming others for the problems. This, despite promising a statement to travelers that was supposed to come this morning.

Global News, a Canadian TV channel said that Ken Stathakis, president of the company and a local Toronto restaurateur said that online chatter about the company’s bankruptcy are a “bunch of BS.”
Another founder of the airline, Fr. Nicholas Alexandris, a Greek Orthodox priest in the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Canada is responding to angry travelers’ Facebook messages by blaming others and telling them to contact Mr. Stathakis. In one message, he told Despina Anastasopoulos that he had resigned from the board of the airline two weeks ago— yet his Facebook status just one day earlier was updated with SkyGreece flight information.
Cindy Pom with Global News has been tweeting about her investigation into the SkyGreece fiasco and said she spoke with Stathakis, who said rumors of the airline’s bankruptcy were a “bunch of BS” and went on to say that the airline wasn’t closing its doors and were indeed, taking care of customers.

But hundreds of stranded passengers in Canada and Greece have taken to a Facebook group to share their stories and voice their complaints.
Pom spoke with Pearson International Airport staff who told her the sole reason SkyGreece was grounded was that the airline hadn’t paid landing fees.
