Woman Travels Thousands of Miles to Feed Greece’s Strays During COVID Lockdown

Woman travels thousands of miles to feed stray dogs during Greece's covid-19 lockdown

You may not think of stray dogs as victims of Covid-10. But Greece’s lockdowns were among the harshest in the world, and many strays were left unfed as fewer people stepped out for activities.

One woman, Ermione, received special permission from the government to travel throughout cities, villages, and the countryside to feed stray animals. There were many times where she was the only citizen outside as Greece’s strict lockdowns mandated people to stay home or in the confines of their neighborhoods

Ermione runs The Diasozo Animal Rescue Team (DAR) from Karditsa, Greece, a small group of volunteers. Diasozo rescues, takes care of, and re-homes abandoned and abused strays in Greece.
