A $5,000 grant from the Greek America Foundation has significantly improved the educational experience of students at the 7th Experimental Elementary School in Chania, Crete.
The funds, provided through the Greek America Foundation’s “Project Hope for Greece“ campaign, were used to purchase items such as two interactive whiteboards, two tablets, a printer, a telephone, a piano, and various musical instruments. The contribution aimed to meet essential school needs and improve students’ access to digital and creative learning tools.
“We want our support in Greece to serve as a springboard for children to thrive,” said Gregory C. Pappas, founder and president of the Greek America Foundation. “As cliché as it sounds, children are our future and it’s our responsibility to give them the foundation they need to mature and build a better society.”
The school’s administration shared a heartfelt message to the Greek America Foundation via a post on their Facebook page:
“With immense gratitude and joy, the educational community of the 7th Experimental Primary School of Chania expresses its heartfelt thanks to the Greek America Foundation and its founder, Greg Pappas, for their generous donation to our school.
This valuable contribution includes a piano, various musical instruments, a printer, a telephone, two interactive whiteboards, and two tablets, thus addressing essential needs of our school and providing our students with new opportunities for learning and creative expression.”

The donation builds on an existing relationship between the Greek America Foundation and the school. In the summer of 2024, volunteers from the Greek America Corps summer volunteer program joined with the 7th Experimental Elementary School staff and students, painting murals and beautifying the outdoor schoolyard.
