(Video) That Moment on Greek TV When Two Pop Idols Jam an Ikariotiko Dance

One of Greece’s most popular television music shows, The Voice, turned a little traditional a few weeks ago when one of the contestants started singing a folk song from the island of Ikaria.

Elena Paparizou, one of Greece’s most popular singers couldn’t contain herself.

The Swedish-born pop singer, who grew up in a traditional diaspora Greek home, complete with Greek folk dance classes, popped out of her judge’s chair and started dancing.

One of the comments on the video noted they haven’t seen Paparizou move like this since winning Eurovision with her hit “My Number One,” another song that had traditional elements of the Pontian lyra.

And it gets better. After congratulating the singer, she starts heading back to her chair.

On her way back— she grabs her fellow judge Sakis Rouvas and they jam together for a while before allowing the contestant to complete the song.

For traditionalists, it was a great moment on Greek television— and the internet agreed. The video has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.
