The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (Order of AHEPA) raised more than $100,000 within two days after launching a relief campaign July 25 for victims of the devastating Attica wildfires in Greece.

AHEPA donated an initial $50,000 on Friday, but President Carl Hollister said in a statement that the association will continue donating additional funds.
“This is just AHEPA’s first step toward providing aid to Greece,” Hollister said. “We will raise more, and we are calling on our chapters to mobilize.”
The organization has already sent medical professionals and critical supplies to assist the hundreds of people in need.
In an official announcement Saturday, Chairman Dr. Zenon Christodoulou said AHEPA is working with the Greek Government, U.S. Embassy, global corporations and numerous NGOs to quickly and efficiently provide resources.
The chairman also said AHEPA will provide updates on its fundraising campaign as well as the services provided.
“We will continue our noble mission,” Christodoulou said. “And [we] encourage all like-minded individuals and organizations to join our efforts as we help rebuild the neighborhoods lost and support those who were so cruelly affected.”
