New App Helps You Find Nudist Beaches in Greece

Is summer, for you, all about letting go and getting back to nature? Can’t wait to return to “your roots” by stripping off and baring all?

If you are traveling to Greece this summer to enjoy carefree beaches, having nothing on but your sunscreen, an Athens-based development team has created a mobile application — just for that.

The app, called Keeano, allows users to explore the Greek coastline and find nudist beaches.

Founder Ilias Bogordos and his team had the vision to create an app that would offer personalized results and would rank all beaches and more than 35,000 other places around the coastline, based on user interests and needs.

The app has ranked more than 80 official and unofficial nudist beaches on both the Greek mainland and islands.

After registering, users select their method of transportation — by land or by sea — and change their mood to “naked.” This prompts the app’s internal map to reveal pink markers around the coastline indicating nudist beaches. The map includes beaches only accessible by sea.

Keeano also allows users to engage by uploading photos, adding reviews and reporting incidents such as jellyfish alerts, water pollution or beach occupancy.

But the Keeano app goes beyond finding nudist beaches. Bogordos and his team said they wanted to create a “personalized coastline guide.”

The app allows users to choose from 16 personal interests including sailing, pet-friendly, surf, snorkeling, camping, clubbing and scuba diving, among others. It also includes nine “moods” that affect search results on the map.

Bogordos said the app ignores places that users cannot reach depending on their method of transportation (e.g. by car, boat, etc.). Keeano receives information from MarineTraffic, a Greek company supplying tracking information on the world’s ships, including ferries and yachts sailing around the Greek islands.

The Keeano app is available for free on iOS and Android and can be downloaded by clicking here.
