The New York City‑based charity, Greek America Foundation, will present its signature fundraising and awards gala, the Gabby Awards, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the legendary Plaza Hotel.
The highly anticipated black‑tie event, regarded as the most prestigious honor for people of Greek descent in North America, serves as a powerful storytelling platform celebrating philanthropy, innovation, leadership and cultural contribution.

The Gabby Awards are the Foundation’s principal fundraiser, underwriting scholarships, cultural initiatives and “Project Hope for Greece,” which provides humanitarian relief for vulnerable children.
Under the theme “Goddesses in Our Midst,” this year’s Gabby Awards will honor twenty extraordinary women of Greek descent, from science and politics to the arts and humanitarian work, leaders in their fields and changemakers in their communities.
“This is not just an awards show,” said Greek America Foundation founder Gregory C. Pappas. “It’s a cultural celebration. A platform for storytelling. A statement about who we are and the impact we’re making—collectively and individually.”

This year marks the long-anticipated reunion of more than 150 Forty Under 40 honorees from the past decade. The reunion includes a special brunch where Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis will address leadership and facing adversity in challenging situations.

In another first for the Greek American community, a working group of teenagers called Gen G is organizing a Gabby Awards Teen Gala, featuring teen programming and the awarding of two Teen Gabby Awards. Nominations are now open to honor two outstanding teens of Greek descent who embody the values of excellence and philanthropy.

This year’s gala continues to bring young talent into the spotlight, with dozens of emerging Greek‑American artists contributing their time and talent to the evening’s artistic program. In keeping with the Foundation’s mission, these performers are given the rare opportunity to perform on one of the world’s most prestigious stages.

Greek America Foundation supporters unable to attend may participate in a silent auction that opens two weeks before the gala, bidding on exclusive items, with proceeds directly benefiting Greek America Foundation programs.
First held in 2009 at Chicago’s oldest theater, The Merle Reskin, the Gabby Awards have since been hosted at landmark venues including Ellis Island, Carnegie Hall and Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre.
