The Hellenic American University in Athens has welcomed top faculty members from the United States to teach its new master’s of science degree in stress and health management.
The degree aims to teach practical stress management techniques while providing in-depth scientific knowledge and examining the role of stress in chronic, non-communicable and other diseases.
Professor George P. Chrousos, one of the world’s 100 most cited biomedical scientists, designed the new addition to the university’s graduate programs.
“The new master’s program is for anyone whose work involves helping people,” the university said in an announcement. “It aims to bring together students from diverse backgrounds — from teachers and mental health counselors to social workers and dietitians.”
In addition to Chrousos, the university welcomes a renowned team of biomedical research scientists and practitioners in clinical psychology, nutrition, psychotherapy and management who are also professors at the Hellenic American University’s campus in Nashua, New Hampshire.
The new Athens faculty members include Dr. Aristidis Charonis, former associate professor at the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical School; Dr. Evi Hatziandreou, senior director of health policy and market access; Dr. George Paltoglou, pediatric endocrinologist; Dr. Anna Papageorgiou, nutritionist in the department of childhood obesity at Mitera Hospital; Dr. Harikleia Stefanaki, pediatrician; Dr. Effie Tsilibary, associate professor of neuroscience at the University of Minnesota Medical School; and Dr. Liza Varvogli, psychologist and psychotherapist.
Students at the Hellenic American College/Hellenic American University can study virtually or even via the hybrid model which combines in-person instruction with virtual.
Courses start in October. For more information, visit the Hellenic American University’s website.
