Santorini will have a new Hyatt hotel this summer as the global hotel brand looks to expand its presence in Europe and the Middle East.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation recently announced plans to open seven new luxury hotels and resorts throughout the Middle East and Europe, including in Greece.
Among Hyatt’s new ventures is the Magma Resort Santorini, a part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, expected to open on the popular Greek island in mid-2022.
The 59-room resort will be nestled among traditional old vineyards and located on the lava-made slopes of Vourvoulos where guests will be able to enjoy picturesque Santorini sunsets.
According to its designers, the luxury resort has been designed to suit its specific setting and the wider environment.
“It is surrounded by traditional ‘pezoules,’ large areas of cultivated land that follow geographic altitudes and which are formed with stone walls,” the designers said.
Inspired by these ‘pezoules,’ the complex’s stone formations follow the curved contour-lines of the landscape while its multiple planted terraces offer unlimited views of the horizon.
Paying homage to Santorini’s traditions, blending minimalist elements and earthly tones, Magma Resort Santorini will have 59 rooms, including 24 suites with verandas, private pools, walk-in showers and cozy living areas.
Hyatt’s announcement comes three months after Hilton also announced the opening of its Sea Breeze Santorini Beach Resort, set to open in spring 2022.
