With the official ending of the tourist season on one of the most popular islands on the planet— Mykonos airport is under construction and prepping for a massive makeover.
“The entry and exit points of the island need to be consistent with the brand that we’ve built over the decades,” Konstantinos Koukas, the island’s mayor said on an Instagram post.
The architects at K-STUDIO και ΒΕΤΑPLAN will create a marriage between the island’s traditional white-washed cubic buildings and dovecots, as well as it’s contemporary, chic persona, according to plans released by Fraport for the €25 million facelift.
The facelift includes beautification, but also structural advances including better security checks, more check-in counters that will handle the estimated 2 million annual passengers and overall advanced facilities.
Fraport released the renderings of their proposed plans last summer, showcasing a stunning new design.
