Although her whereabouts haven’t been made public, nor has she publicly announced any volunteer activity on the island, she was spotted in a Facebook photo with Apostolis Paraskevopoulos, a well-known volunteer on the island who is coordinating a massive effort with other volunteers, in the village of Skala Sikamnias, where thousands of refugees pass daily.

Skala Sikamnias is also the village where several Greek grandmothers went viral when a photo of them nursing an infant refugee. Sarandon follows numerous celebrities, including Homeland star Mandy Patinkin, who have visited the island.
Sarandon is just as well known for her films, as she is for her extensive volunteer work in New York City and throughout the world. She traveled to Nepal when the deadly earthquake struck there. She also volunteers at the New York City Rescue Mission, where she helps feed homeless people.
