Unbelievable images of snow-covered Greek islands and ancient ruins have been appearing regularly following not one— but two snowstorms that have hit Greece over the past week and a half.
Snow hit islands that haven’t seen the white, powdery stuff in decades and sand was covered with white, fluffy snow in places like Alonissos, Lesvos, Crete and Skopelos.

The weather caused transportation problems throughout the country, most of which isn’t equipped to handle such conditions and schools were closed for several days as snow was cleared.
Snow also dropped in central Athens.
ABC News appeared to be mesmerized with the beauty of the snow covered Acropolis too, showing drone footage to millions of evening news viewers.
