This Athens Neighborhood Put On Its Christmas Best and It’s Stunning

Christmas

The entire City of Athens (and all of Greece!) is dressed up with its Christmas best this year. Sparkling trees and lighted boats dot the town squares and manger scenes abound outside Greek Orthodox Churches throughout the country, some even with humans playing the role of baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

The tree in Syntagma Square in central Athens is also a spectacle, the focal point of the city’s festive shopping area at the beginning of colorful Ermou Street.

But nowhere is the Christmas spirit more alive than in the Psyrri neighborhood of the city, best known for its antique shops and quaint coffee shops.

The decorations and lights in Psyrri have become somewhat of a sensation online with dozens of people sharing photos on social media.
