A longtime Milwaukee Bucks fan favorite, Athens native Giannis Antetokounmpo has transformed into more than just a hometown hero this NBA season.
Many experts consider Antetokounmpo a leading candidate for the league’s MVP award, and his highlight-worthy performances have drawn the attention of basketball fans from the United States to Greece and back.
“The Greek Freak” has featured in numerous commercials for companies such as Nike, ESPN and Aegean Airlines, among others.
Antetokounmpo’s unique story has also attracted primetime TV networks such as TNT, whose mini documentary “Finding Giannis” depicts his journey to NBA stardom.

Great Job Giannis ! Larry Bird & Celtics practiced at the Greek College Hellenic College we knew the players & my friends worked for the Celtics. Celtics Took THREE NBA CHAMPIONSHIPS In The 1980’s AND I WAS THERE ! Stelios Zervos
Hey Steve! I used to shoot around with the Celtics back then! And was also in charge of cleaning the gym! Played for the Hellenic College Byzantine Eagles ?
I just hope that his manager looks after him and doesn’t treat him as a money making machine,,,
Like Elvis Presley manager and many others treat them like a machine that makes money,, they should be educating how to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground…not to get a big head because that’s the start of downward spiral.
Teach them also about his psyche about yes he is going to be the best but also about life and life after basket ball.
Also to keep in touch with his monetary business, don’t trust any one with his money,, keep your future firmly ahead of him…
I just hope the manager looks really after him mentally, physically and in tune with his life in the future.
I am Greek/Aussie and I’m very proud of him.
All the best Giannis.
