Fraport, the German company that operates of many of Greece’s airports, are moving ahead with multi-million dollar promises to revamp Greece’s aging airport infrastructure— including a €25 million ($30 million) facelift for Mykonos airport.
This latest announcement is one of Fraport’s latest infrastructure projects, which have included the investment of dozens of millions of euros at 14 of Greece’s busiest airports, including Daskalogiannis in Hania on the island of Crete.
The architects at K-STUDIO και ΒΕΤΑPLAN will create a marriage between the island’s traditional white-washed cubic buildings and dovecots, as well as it’s contemporary, chic persona, according to plans released by Fraport.
The facelift includes beautification, but also structural advances including better security checks, more check-in counters that will handle the estimated 2 million annual passengers and overall advanced facilities.
Fraport said the renovations will be completed by 2021.
