Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis returned to office work on Monday, one week after testing positive COVID-19.

Mitsotakis tested negative on Sunday, just under a week after revealing he had tested positive one day after a trip to Istanbul, Turkey.

“In the daily rapid test that I did today in the office, I tested positive for COVID-19,” Mitsotakis had said in his video announcement last week. “Consequently I will be se self-isolating in my home and work from there.”

The prime minister has received three doses of the vaccine.

Gkikas Magiorkinis, a member of Greece’s epidemiologist committee advising the Health Ministry, told Greek television that the country is considering abolishing the COVID-pass by as early as Orthodox Easter.

Speaking to state broadcaster ERT, Magiorkinis said that the vaccination certificate will likely be scrapped by Easter which falls on April 24.

“Maybe during Holy Week we will not have the COVID-pass,” the professor told reporters.
