Where Greeks Are Traveling to This Easter? Aegean Airlines Reveals

Aegean Airlines has revealed the most popular travel destinations for Greek holidaymakers in 2025, both domestically and abroad. High passenger volumes and aircraft occupancy reaching up to 95% mark a robust return to seasonal travel.

Large European cities continue to dominate Greeks’ international travel choices this Easter. Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Lisbon remain top picks. Additionally, emerging destinations such as Malta, Dubrovnik, Izmir, Marrakesh, Krakow, Porto, and Edinburgh are gaining popularity due to their cultural appeal and increasing flight availability. Aegean reports particularly strong performance on these routes, with many flights departing from Athens and Thessaloniki nearing full capacity.

On the domestic front, Greek island destinations are at the top of the list. Rhodes, Crete (both Heraklion and Chania), Santorini, Corfu, Kos, and Chios are among the most sought-after locations. Santorini, in particular, is showing signs of recovery in demand following a difficult start to its tourist season, which was impacted by a prolonged period of seismic activity earlier this year. These domestic routes are showing aircraft occupancy of 75% to 95%, with flights from Athens and Thessaloniki playing a key role in the seasonal surge.

The Greek Easter travel exodus unofficially began in the weekend before Holy Week, largely driven by families with children on school break as well as foreign remote workers returning home.

The busiest travel day is expected to be Holy Thursday, when most Greeks plan to leave urban centers. Return traffic is anticipated between April 23–26, indicating extended stays at holiday destinations.
