Greek American Philanthropist Ted Spyropoulos Honored in Village of His Birth

The late Greek American philanthropist Theodore Spyropoulos from Chicago was honored in his birth village of Drimo, outside Kalavryta with a dedication of a bust in his memory.

Spyropoulos passed away on September 25, 2014 in Chicago.

The self-made petroleum businessman dedicated his life to numerous causes supporting Hellenism, particularly Greek education the United States. He was also instrumental in launching the Plant Your Roots in Greece campaign, which led to major reforestation projects throughout Greece following devastating fires.

Numerous local officials were on hand for the dedication of the bust in memory of Spyropoulos and a Divine Liturgy was held in the local Greek Orthodox Church where Spyropoulos spent his childhood.
