Beloved Miami Restaurant Mandolin Aegean Bistro Opens New Outpost in Los Angeles Soho House

Mandolin Taverna DTLA has opened in Downtown Los Angeles, located in Soho Warehouse DTLA. The new restaurant follows in the footsteps of its widely popular Miami sister restaurant Mandolin Aegean Bistro.

Taverna comes as an offshoot of Aegean Bistro, a 13-year-old staple in Miami’s Design District founded by creative genius duo Anastasia Koutsioukis and her husband Ahmet Erkaya. Mandolin serves refined versions of Greek and Turkish cuisine in a 1930s-era house with patio seating.

The newly opened restaurant is open to Soho House members and the general public, alike and isis located adjacent to Soho Warehouse in the outdoor garden space which also includes an upper terrace, indoor dining and full bar.

The restaurant has its own entrance just around the corner from Soho House where you enter into a lantern lit garden oasis serving the exact menu as its Miami counterpart. On the ground floor, the space features plentiful shade, dappled sunlight, burnished white and blue textiles that combined with the California climate, evoke afternoon meals in the Aegean.

Food options range from starter dips and salads to grilled octopus, whole fish, and flatbreads that arrive alongside charcoal-grilled meats.

Soho House is an international collection of membership club spaces with U.S. locations in New York, Miami, Austin, and Malibu, in addition to West Hollywood and the Arts District. Annual memberships give customers access to hotel rooms, communal lounge and bar spaces, live events, networking nights, pools and sometimes even private restaurants.

“Mandolin is a home away from home for many people. There is a special spirit that lives in the space and even after a decade that soulful feeling still remains, I think that is the secret to our success,” Koutsioukis said in an interview with Voyage MIA. “I designed this space so that you can feel the personal decor, details and love that was put into it.”

Members can book reservations via the Soho House app while non-members can book via the OpenTable platform. Hours are 11:00am-11:00pm every day at 1000 S. Santa Fe Ave. in the Arts District.

For more information, visit the restaurant’s page on the LA Soho House website.

Since its initial opening, the couple has expanded the Mandolin brand with an Aegean-inspired lifestyle and homeware brand named Mrs. Mandolin, which will open an outpost of the shop in a cottage off the garden space of Mandolin Taverna in the coming weeks, as well as fast-casual gyros and kebab house, Mr. Mandolin, which has two locations in Miami.

A Meze & Wine Bar opened recently next door to Mandolin, in addition to their newest restaurant, The Drexel, a coastal Mediterranean restaurant that is receiving rave reviews in Miami’s stylish South Beach.
