Greece Climbs to 12th Place in Latest FIBA Men’s World Rankings

With the conclusion of the recent qualifying games for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the Greek men’s national team has risen one spot to claim the 12th position in the FIBA world rankings.

The “Galanolefki” finished with a balanced record of one win and one loss against Montenegro, with the highlight of their campaign being a crucial 79-65 away victory in the Moraca Sports Center. Greece overcame Montenegro thanks to a strong performance from Greek guard Vasilis Toliopoulos.

Greece now sits just one spot behind 11th-placed Turkey, who remains undefeated in their World Cup qualifiers. The US maintains its firm grip on the number one spot of the world rankings, securing passage to the second round of the Americas qualifiers.

The US are followed closely by Germany in second place and Serbia in third to complete the podium. The rest of the global rankings feature incredibly tight margins. Less than three points separate third-placed Serbia, fourth-placed France, and fifth-placed Canada.
