Miss Greece Ioanna Bella opted for a complete, traditional version of her nation’s national dress for the costume parade at the 2018 Miss Universe competition taking place in Thailand.
While other contestants wore hybrid or abstract representations of the nations they were representing, Miss Greece’s costume was the full traditional costume that is considered Greece’s “National Female Costume” that accompanies the male Evzone costume.
In years past, other contestants have used historic adaptations from antiquity.
The Greek beauty queen decided herself to wear the traditional costume in this year’s pageant, instead of something from Ancient Greece. The video below is from the 2018 Miss Universe competition.
