Every year, two villages on the Greek island of Chios forgo easter egg hunts and bunnies to wage a century-long tradition called Rouketopolemos, or “rocket wars.”

Filmmaker Scott Carthy shot this short film in 2015, capturing the story of this tradition that appears in 2016 to have been banned by local authorities, according to reports from local media on Chios. See photos from the rocket wars here.
