Data released by Greek weather and climate hub Climatebook showed the vast majority of last year’s temperatures exceeding 1991-2020 average temperatures. This marked 2025 the second warmest year in Greece since meteorological records began, in 1890.

Above average temperatures were recorded in no less than 262 of 365 days last year. March 2025 saw temperatures reach record-breaking levels in several regions of the country, while 2025’s summer was ranked as the third hottest summer in history, with summer 2024 being the absolute warmest.
Unusually low temperatures for the season were also noted in early April and October of last year.

Overall, six of the seven warmest years in Greece’s history have been recorded in the last seven years.
The average annual temperature in Greece for 2025 was 15.3°C (59.54°F). That’s approximately 0.7°C (1.26°F) cooler than 2024, and roughly 0.1°C (0.18°F) warmer than 2023.
