The town of Tarpon Springs, Florida celebrated Greek Independence Day the way most of the rest of the world does— with a parade.

With the backdrop of sponge docks, an avenue called Dodecanese Boulevard and thousands of Greeks— who make up more than 10 per cent of the city’s population, it was a perfect day on Florida’s Gulf Coast to celebrate the anniversary of Greece’s Independence.

As if Tarpon Springs— a place we’ve dubbed “the Greekest place in North America” needed to become even more Greek!
