Greece’s rings champion Eleftherios Petrounias finished second with a stellar performance in the men’s rings qualification round at the Rio Olympics.
He advances to the finals round which will take place on Monday, August 15th at 8:00pm (local Rio time).
Petrounias is favored to win the gold medal. He is the reigning World and European champion on the still rings.
He was the first Olympic Torch runner to carry the Olympic Flame after it was lit in Ancient Olympia, after which he shared a message of equality for all humans.
