A photography book has been published called “Extra! Extra! Chicago’s Greeks in News Photographs 1930-1990” which contains over 150 vintage photographs of a lively, engaged Greek community.
The photographs, all previously published in mainstream Chicago newspapers, come from the collection of Gregory C. Pappas, who also edited and compiled the images for publication.
Pappas is also the publisher of The Pappas Post and founder of the Greek America Foundation and has been researching and collecting photos and memorabilia relating to Greek Americans for decades.
Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos wrote the foreword.

The book tracks the history of one of the largest diaspora communities of Greeks in the world as told by the mainstream media.
Photographs include 1970s demonstrations against the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and military dictatorship in Greece, numerous parades that once took place in downtown streets, and long-forgotten celebrations and visits by dignitaries to the Windy City when thousands of Greeks came out to welcome them.
