The BBC and Netflix are gearing up for a brand new epic drama that will take viewers back to one of the most exciting chapters of Greek history and mythology.
Troy: Fall Of A City, according to its producers, promises an awe-inspiring take on the classic tale of war and vengeance.
The eight-part series, created by David Farr (The Night Manager), who is also head writer and executive producer, will air on BBC One in the UK in 2018, followed by a global release on Netflix.

The line-up includes a stellar cast who will tell the epic story of a battle between mortals and gods– and the origins in which set the wheels in motion for the siege of Troy.

The first images for the forthcoming drama have been released and cast members David Threlfall (Shameless), Frances O’Connor (The Missing), David Gyasi (Interstellar), Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood), Johnny Harris (This Is England) star.

Louis Hunter and Bella Dayne play the lead roles of lovers Paris and Helen, whose love affair brings society to its knees.

Told from the perspective of the Trojan royal family at the heart of the siege, Troy: Fall Of A City ‘is a rich story of love, intrigue, betrayal and belonging’.

The casting of black actors to play the roles of the Greek hero Achilles have already ignited controversy online, with angry fans of Greek history questioning the producers’ motives for casting Greek characters as having African heritage.
The big budget historical drama (about $11.5 million) per episode, has already wrapped filming in Cape Town, South Africa.
