Americans Eligible for COVID-19 Booster Shots in Greece

Americans COVID-19 booster shots

Americans visiting Greece this winter can now have their CDC vaccination certificates converted to local versions and will also be allowed to receive COVID-19 booster shots in Greece.

On Tuesday, the Greek government announced it will issue local certificates to anyone that has been vaccinated abroad or who has a certificate of recovery from the disease issued by another country.

The announcement was made by Greece’s Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Giorgos Georgandas on Skai TV, where he told viewers that the certificates will be issued via an application on the gov.gr platform.

Georgandas also said users who have completed the initial round of vaccination overseas will have an opportunity to book an appointment for a booster shot in Greece.

The news follows an earlier announcement by the Greek Consul General in New York that travelers visiting Greece who were vaccinated in the United States are now allowed to enter indoor spaces simply by showing a hard copy of their CDC certificate along with their ID or passport.

That news was announced on Monday by the Greek Embassy in Washington D.C. via Twitter.
