Universal Pictures has slated “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” for a release on March 25, 2016. Filming is currently under way in Toronto. The release date sets up a box office showdown with Warner Bros. film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which is being released the same day.
Nia Vardalos returns as the star and screenwriter of the sequel which reveals a big family secret and an even bigger wedding than the first one.
Kirk Jones (“Nanny McPhee”) is the director. The film is produced by Rita Wilson and Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. Executive producers are Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Steven Shareshian and Vardalos.
