Mykonos already had the beaches, the sunsets, the yachts, the celebrity sightings, the legendary nightlife and enough extravagant hotel pools to fill a very glamorous coffee-table book.

Apparently, that wasn’t enough.

The newly opened Fouquet’s Mykonos has added another unexpected experience to the island: an architectural basketball half-court built to NBA standards and carved directly into the hotel’s natural rock.

Yes, you can now play one-on-one surrounded by the raw Cycladic landscape, with tiered courtside seating and the craggy Mykonos rock rising around the court.

It feels less like a hotel amenity and more like a private sporting arena designed for a very stylish offseason.

The hotel opened this summer on Paraga Beach, marking the celebrated French hospitality brand’s first location in Greece and its fifth worldwide, following Paris, New York, Courchevel and Saint-Barthélemy.

The property includes 60 suites and three private villas, many with private pools, jacuzzis or panoramic terraces overlooking the Aegean.

The basketball court is only one of the hotel’s more unusual features. Fouquet’s has also created a Rock Spa within the island’s stone, complete with an indoor pool, ice baths, flotation treatments and hyperbaric oxygenation.

The hotel’s dining lineup includes a restaurant and beach club operated by ROKA, while an original Salvador Dalí elephant sculpture welcomes guests in the lobby.

Because apparently, on Mykonos, a private pool, an Aegean sunset, Japanese robata and a Dalí sculpture are no longer quite enough.
