Greece is set to build the world’s first theme park dedicated to Alexander the Great, combining interactive entertainment and educational experiences in a setting closely tied to the legendary historical figure. The Alexander Theme Park will be located near Amphipolis, in Northern Greece, on a 2-acre plot between the Greek cities of Kavala and Serres.
During a tourism and real estate development conference at the American College of Thessaloniki, Grigoris Avanidis—Project Manager at Dream Workers, a Greek company specializing in theme parks and large events—announced plans for a new theme park. According to Greek media, an official statement is expected later in the year, with construction projected to begin in 2026. The total investment is estimated at under €10 million.
Designed to include both indoor and outdoor spaces, the park aims to attract families and visitors of all ages. It will combine educational and recreational elements without adhering strictly to a traditional historical narrative. Nevertheless, the theme park’s location near the Kasta Tomb, one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in recent Greek history, adds a certain authenticity to this project.
Avanidis noted that Greece lags behind other European countries in the development of theme parks, but highlighted growing interest from both domestic and international investors in such ventures.
