Global Luxury Website Features Increasing Number of Athenian Properties

An increasing number of multi-million dollar homes in Athens are being listed on a global luxury property website, drawing attention from the world’s rich and famous.

The Athenian properties listed for more than $2 million on Mansion Global are on the rise, with some options in the Greek capital going for as much as $21 million.

A quick search on the site reveals various properties, scattered across the city, from the historic center to the leafy northern suburbs and the southern suburbs along the coastline.

One of the most notable listings is a building in the heart of Athens’ historic center, built in 1837, on the site of Hadrian’s Library which was created by the Roman Emperor Hadrian. The property is listed for just over $20 million.

Also listed on the site is a four-bedroom apartment in Kolonaki. Described as “a beautiful apartment full of old-world charm and the ideal city home,” the asking price is $3.89 million.

Further south, in Voula, is a seaside mansion with seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and two swimming pools. The property is listed at $7.5 million.

The site includes 360 listings, all of them with an asking price above $1 million. According to an expert, luxury real estate sales to foreigners is on the rise again, which might explain the growing number of properties online.

Co-Founder of Greek real estate site Listen2Find Maria Psilos says buyers from the United States and other countries such as Israel, the UAE and Lebanon are purchasing luxury homes in the Greek capital.

“An increasing number of visitors to our site is from foreigners, with strong interest in luxury real estate coming from the United States, but also countries in the Middle East,” Psilos told The Pappas Post.
