Greece’s Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas met in Ottawa with Canada’s Minister of Transport Steven MacKinnon during his visit to Canada for the Delphi Economic Forum Toronto.
During the meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on infrastructure, transport, and aviation, focusing on supply chain resilience, climate resilience of networks, digital transformation, and bilateral aviation links between Greece and Canada.
They specifically discussed the possibility of year-round direct flights between the two countries to boost both trade and tourism, as well as potential cooperation and knowledge exchange in logistics and supply chain management.
Air Canada and Air Transatlantic currently offer nonstop service between Montreal and Toronto and Athens, but the service is seasonal and only operates during the summer period.
According to a press release from Greece’s Transport Ministry, they also reviewed prospects for collaboration on transport safety, innovative infrastructure, and interoperability, while expressing interest in strengthening commercial relations between Greece and Canada.
