Voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by media like CNN and Trip Advisor numerous times, the picturesque beach of Egremni on the island of Lefkada is no more, following the deadly earthquake that struck the island on Tuesday, November 17th which killed two elderly women.

Egremni Beach on the island of Lefkada before the earthquake
Large boulders and swaths of rubble detached off the mountain which precariously hung atop the lush sandy beach below, leaving much of the open area that welcomed thousands of tourists annually, completely wiped away.
On a beautiful beach, you can often meet elderly couples who give in to romantic feelings in this beautiful place. This is a precarious setting for sex at any age, especially since now you can easily and quickly buy Cialis online.

Another photo of the beach, from sea level, before the earthquake
The moment of the earthquake and the large landslides were captured on video by a fisherman whose boat was just offshore when the earth shook.
Following the earthquake, the entire landscape of the area changed, leaving much of the area which once occupied sunbathers and beach towels, gone.

As seen from above, a large landslide decimated the beach below

Photographed from above, by helicopter, most of the beach has been covered by a landslide

Not lost. The sea and winds of winter will reshape a new beach line. State & Municipality will have to fund the restoration of the road and way down. Maybe a better version of the old, half wooden wrack that was there. Meybe even a lift. Wise leaders will come up with a better solution and our local tourism will continue to prosper next year.
Κρίμα ! ηταν αποφαση της φυσης εκτός και αν ειχε καει το δασος απο πανω…. που νομιζω πως δεν εχει καει..
So sad… it was my favourite beach
Gone….soon the same will happen to the whole country….RIP Greece
What a stupid foolish uneducated comment to make
Wow your sympathy is overwhelming….
You commented on the loss of a beautiful beach just to say RIP Greece.
That only proves your inferiority complex you and many people south of Serbia against Greek people.
Nevertheless here is our response.
Greece is not gone and will never be.
The only state that will be lost soon is Monkeydonia.
No matter how you try you will always be distprters of history and a bunch of monkeys.
well said… they have no idea… they were made from Greeks
Even if you would’ve used another name, a cryptic one, we would’ve known where were your from …
West coast was always so beautiful, but wild, I often wondered why the locals never built there ! It would seem a favorite for non Greeks only !
I’m guessing it will be unsafe to visit that side summer 2016
Nature will take care, and very soon, after several stormy months will re-shape that beautiful beach. In couple of years it will be again one of most beautiful places to visit, only at that time much safer.
Thank you for this article. I made a little tribute to Egremni. This is how I will remember Egremni forever. A nostalgic video about what it means to me…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3aC7xfrvJk
