Island hopping between the Cyclades, Crete and Rhodes has become significantly easier following the launch of a new airline in Greece.
Based in Paros, Cycladic now offers flights to a number of islands in the Cyclades, including Paros, Mykonos, Santorini, Syros and, starting next summer, Milos. The airline also connects with Chania and Heraklion in Crete, and Rhodes.
The airline, operated by Ιfly SA, the largest Greek private aircraft and helicopter management company, aims to facilitate travel for tourists wishing to visit Crete and the Dodecanese islands in addition to the Cyclades.
Cycladic plans to operate year round, offering more options for connectivity to permanent island residents, while also offering faster connections to other Greek islands for tourists.
The company says the duration of flights will vary, from approximately 20 minutes to slightly more than an hour, depending on the destination.
Cycladic’s fleet is made up of three new single-engine low-flying Cessna Grand Caravan 208BEX selected for their low environmental footprint and larger windows and future plans include investing in electric aircraft. The airline also offers charter flights.
Representing Cycladic Airlines, Andreas Sotiropoulos said: “We are pleased to introduce Cycladic, which comes to meet transport demands of the Aegean islands. Our goal is not only to provide the easiest access for travelers but also to facilitate Greek islanders… support destinations and improve the daily life of residents, aiming at the same time for sustainable tourism development.”
