Something lacking in Los Angeles— a high-end Greek restaurant— will open in Beverly Hills, with a little help from New York City.
Wildly popular AVRA Estiatorio will take over the former Hakkasan space along north Beverly Drive. It hasn’t been announced when AVRA will open, but a lease has been signed at prime Beverly Hills location in place called the Golden Triangle by locals.
The Asian-themed Hakkasan was open for two years and closed in 2015. Since Hakkasan’s shutter, the landlord was unable to attract a tenant for the no-doubt pricey 10,000 square foot space.
AVRA opened its first location in Manhattan in 2000, when restaurateurs Nick Pashalis and Nick Tsoulos partnered with Tao Group’s Marc Packer.
A second AVRA opened in Midtown just off Central Park and became an immediate magnet for New York City’s high society partiers and diners.
The Midtown location remains, over a year after its opening, one of the most difficult restaurants to get into on a weekend night.
