The New York City-based Greek America Foundation has launched a campaign to support victims of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The foundation aims to show solidarity with their Turkish and Syrian brothers and sisters.
With a proven track record in supporting humanitarian crises in the past, the Greek America Foundation is launching this campaign in North America to gather support for the organizations in Turkey that are on the ground trying to keep people alive.
In the past, when devastating earthquakes struck the island of Lesvos, th Greek America Foundation dispatched teams and determined how best to implement our support. At that time, they distributed almost $100,000 in direct food support to more than 800 families that lost their homes.
Although it is too soon to understand the full scope of the disaster, the proceeds of the campaign will also provide support after the dust has settled, implementing a similar program as they did on Lesvos several years ago.
