Greece has hired a high-powered lobbying firm to work on its behalf in Washington DC, according to an online public relations news portal.
O’Dwyer’s, an insider’s news source for matters relating to public relations and lobbying reported that the Greek government has hired a firm named DLA Piper to the tune of $75,000 a month.
The firm’s role will be to advance mutual interests with the United States in the areas of economics, trade, foreign policy and national security, according to O’Dwyer’s report.
Ignacio Sanchez, co-chair of DLA Piper’s government affairs practice, heads the firm’s five-member lobbying team that will work on behalf of Greece.
The group also includes Tom Korologos, who is considered one of the most well-connected Greek American Republicans in the nation.
Korologos, who is not an employee of the firm according to his bio on the website, serves DLA Piper as a “strategic advisor.”
He was United States Ambassador to Belgium during the George W. Bush administration and also served numerous Congressional positions earlier in his career.
