(Video) Golden Dawn Supporters Storm Greek Elementary School Protesting Refugee Children

A Golden Dawn politician and his far-right supporters stormed an elementary school in the Perama area of Athens, threatening staff and lobbing punches, protesting plans to offer classes to refugee children from a nearby camp.

Yiannis Lagos, a member of parliament for the Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party hurled abusive words and aggressively pushed his way into the school. He was accompanied by a number of supporters.

“Instances of violence and racism have no place in a school environment,” according to the Education Ministry’s general secretary, adding that “Today’s acts by the Golden Dawn members … will not affect the operation of the school.”

The Golden Dawn members entered the school during a meeting between local officials, teachers and parents who were scheduled to discuss plans to offer after school classes to 25 refugee children who live in a nearby camp.

The government has been trying to integrate refugee children into school systems across the country. There are tens of thousands of refugees trapped in Greece, including school-aged children.

After storming the school, the Golden Dawn members threatened those attending the meeting and punched some teachers and parents, according to Greek media reports.

The video comes from Star News in Greece:
