Greek Orthodox priest Father Antonios Papanikolaou turned an abandoned tourist resort on the island of Chios into a shelter for children in 2014, modeled after successful initiatives he started in Athens and Ioannina.
His organization is called Kivotos Tou Kosmou or Ark of the World.
In 2015, the “Ark of the World” started welcoming unaccompanied refugee children at their Chios location.
