NBC Nightly News reportedly extensively on the role of Greek islanders and volunteers who were “risking their own lives” to help arriving refugees.
The major U.S. news network sent a correspondent to the island of Lesvos and interviewed numerous people involved in the rescue efforts.
In stark contrast to praising the efforts of the volunteers, it was revealed in confidential reports that the European Union proposed the criminalization of volunteers and locals who were helping save refugees.
