Vaccine Booster Available After Just Three Months for Adults in Greece

Adults in Greece will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine booster shot just three months after receiving their second dose, the Greek government announced on Friday.

The secretary general of Greece’s Ministry of Health, Marios Themistokleous, made the announcement about the National Vaccination Committee’s decision to accelerate the third installment.

Greece had initially set the booster shots to be administered six months after the second dose, but changed its stance as the country continues to battle a rise in coronavirus cases and the threat of the new Omicron variant.

Themistocleous said the same eligibility applies to those who have recovered from COVID-19; they too will be eligible for the booster shot just three months after recovering.

“The National Vaccination Committee reviewed the data with the Omicron mutation and decided to give the third booster dose to all citizens ages 18 and over three months later,” Themistokleouσ said.
