White Lotus star Theo James has expressed public interest in playing George Michael in a biopic about the late star. It would be fitting, given that both are of Greek descent. James’s full name is Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis, and Michael’s full name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou. (Note that George Michael’s father was Greek-Cypriot).
Theo James appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen last week, where he shared about his and Michael’s Greek heritage when asked by a viewer about the possibility of taking on a role. “Oh yeah, I would love that,” James said. “He’s a lot of Greek, and I’m a lot of Greek. Put that Greek together, and you get falafel.” We’re not sure about the falafel part, but we’re very curious to see if James will snag the role.
George Michael’s family has endorsed the $100 million project, according to several sources. While the internet darling James is not officially confirmed, he took to Twitter to share his potential excitement.
