Continuing a decades-long tradition, U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed members of the Greek American community to celebrate Greek Independence Day at The White House.
The event included welcome remarks by Archbishop Elpidophoros, head of the Greek Orthodox Church in the United States, who told President Trump that he reminded him of the Emperor Constantine, who built the city of Constantinople.
“Through your leadership and the values of our Christian faith and love for the gospel. You remind me of the great Roman emperor, Constantine, the great emperor, the one who founded and built the magnificent city of Constantinople. My birthplace known today as Istanbul,” the Archbishop said to Trump.
