IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced two new properties on the island of Crete, Greece. The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection and Kimpton Crete, both owned by the Gelasakis Group, will mark the debut of these brands in Greece. The hotels are slated to open in 2025 and 2026 respectively.
Situated in the Chania city center near the port and market, The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection will have 39 guest rooms, multiple dining options, a wellness center, and a heated rooftop plunge pool.
Between Chania and Rethymno, Kimpton Crete will offer a luxury beach resort experience. The hotel, a 20-minute drive from Chania Airport, will sport 76 guestrooms, two restaurant offerings, a luxurious spa center with a seaside indoor pool, and direct access to Georgioupolis Beach.
Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed delight at the debut of the luxury and lifestyle brands in Greece. She pointed out Chania’s increasing popularity among high-end travelers and commented that adding two new properties would strengthen IHG’s portfolio in the country.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has five open properties in Greece – InterContinental Crete, Crowne Plaza Athens – City Centre, InterContinental Athenaeum Athens, Holiday Inn Athens – Airport and Holiday Inn Thessaloniki – as well as two Six Senses resorts under development – outlining IHG’s strong and growing luxury footprint in the Greek market.
