Greece, the Destination for Undergraduate and Graduate Studies

Greece as a study destination for both undergraduate and graduate studies: English-taught Programs at the Athens University of Economics and Business – a focus on the BSc in International Business and Technology and MBA International

Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) is proud to announce the launch of its new Bachelor of Science in International Business and Technology (IBT), a key initiative in the university’s strategic plan for internationalization. This program, set to begin in September 2025, represents a significant milestone in AUEB’s ongoing efforts to foster global engagement and collaboration. Moreover, AUEB delivers several English-taught Master’s programs, the oldest and internationally accredited one being the MBA International.

A Tradition of Excellence

AUEB is recognized as the premier business and economics University in Greece. With over 100 years of rich history and tradition, the University has produced more than 70.000 graduates from its 8 departments, many of which have taken up leading positions in industry, academia, government and as entrepreneurs. All departments attract and recruit top students who are taught by internationally renowned academic staff. In addition to excellence, innovation and social impact, extroversion is a core value of the university. Indeed, AUEB was among the first universities in Greece to participate in the Erasmus mobility program, enabling thousands of students to study abroad and welcoming many international students to its campus. As a testament to its expertise in hosting international students, AUEB maintains partnerships with over 250 universities worldwide and offers 70 undergraduate courses in English, attracting nearly 500 incoming students annually. This is the highest percentage of student mobility amongst Greek universities with reference to the active student population.

Pioneering English-Taught Programs

In addition to its robust undergraduate offerings, AUEB was one of the first Greek universities to establish English-taught postgraduate programs. Currently, 9 of its 29 master’s programs are conducted entirely in English, earning international recognition and high rankings from reputable global ranking institutions. AUEB also hosts short-term study abroad programs, summer schools, and educational visits for international students, further enhancing its global footprint.

Introducing the BSc in International Business and Technology

The new BSc in International Business and Technology is a four-year program taught on-site in Athens, entirely in English. The program is targeted at international students (foreign nationals) who aspire to a global career in international business, supported by a practical and strategic understanding of digital technology management. The program’s unique strength is its embedded interdisciplinarity, enabling students to successfully delve into the rapidly changing landscapes of global business, international management, and disruptive technology applications. Students choose the Program because of its educational excellence, international outlook, access to high-quality faculty members and strong networking with business and industry worldwide.

Curriculum and Specializations

The IBT program includes mandatory courses covering fundamental concepts and theories in the first two years, followed by specialized elective courses in two contemporary tracks: Management, Leadership & Strategy, and Technology & Analytics. Graduates will possess a solid background in business fundamentals like strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, cross cultural communication, business ethics, negotiations and business modelling, while at the same time they will have covered the foundations of most state-of-the-art business-related technologies, including like cybersecurity, digital marketing and social media, distributed ledger technologies, artificial intelligence, mobile and web applications development. Distinguished faculty members from various AUEB departments will conduct courses utilizing cutting-edge, innovative educational methodologies.

Emphasis on Practical Experience

Beyond academic knowledge, the program emphasizes essential skills such as communication, analytical thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurial thinking, and teamwork. In the final semester, students will participate in a mandatory internship with companies and organizations, applying their acquired knowledge in real-world settings and gaining valuable experience at the start of their careers. AUEB’s strong ties with the business community ensure excellent access to the job market, offering graduates career opportunities in fields that blend technological advancements with economic insights and managerial skills.

Introducing the MBA International Program

A vibrant and innovative MBA program, the MBA International offers a personalized, technology-focused and strongly networked educational experience. The Program has attracted students from more than 30 countries and is fully accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the major global MBA accreditation authority, since 2005.

The MBA International appears in numerous global and European rankings of Business Schools and MBA programs. Some of the recent examples are the 6th place globally in the Eduniversal MBA Part-Time category for 2024, 32 nd place globally for 2025 among 87 top MBA and Masters Programs in the QS International Trade Rankings, and the 11th place in International Management in Western Europe for 2022 by Eduniversal. Moreover, the MBA International was the Winner of the MBA Startup of the Year 2022 Award of the AMBA and BGA Global Excellence Awards.

With graduates working across all continents, the MBA International is highly regarded in the market both locally and internationally. The graduating students are well-equipped to seek managerial and leadership positions in all industries in Greek and multinational companies in Greece and abroad. After the completion of their studies, MBA International graduates benefit either by advancing their existing career, by making a career change in new industries or by establishing their own company. 100% of Full-Time graduates are employed before graduation and 72% of the Part-Time graduates made a career change within one year of graduation.

Opportunities

The launch of the BSc in International Business and Technology presents a unique opportunity for US nationals with Greek heritage. With its focus on international business and technology, designed to equip students with global business and tech skills, it will attract a diverse group of foreign students, including many expats, interested in international markets and cross-cultural business. Additionally, in their final year of their studies, IBT students will be seeking internships and practical experience, making
them excellent candidates for multinational companies.

Similarly, but for candidates with a few years of working experience and on a dynamic career path, the MBA International provides a unique opportunity to take a fast and substantial leap in your career, studying in an international context in Greece and joining a tightly knit network of alumni across the
globe.

A Strategic Investment for the Future

The launch of new English-speaking programs with an international orientation, such as the IBT, alongside the well-established MBA International, reflects AUEB’s strong and ongoing commitment to high-quality education with global impact.

While the MBA International has been a flagship postgraduate program for over two decades, attracting professionals from around the world, the IBT represents a strategic expansion into undergraduate international education. Together, these programs enrich AUEB’s internationalization strategy and strengthen Greece’s academic presence on the global educational map. We look forward to welcoming students from across the globe to be part of this dynamic and forward-looking academic community.
