Delta to Launch Direct Flight season to Athens in March

Delta begins direct flight to Athens

The first direct flight from Delta from the United States to Greece will arrive at Athens International Airport on March 11th, according to Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias. Daily nonstop flights resume from that date onward.

Due to a busier, longer-than-usual tourism season, Delta paused its direct flights several days ago.

“This company stopped its [direct] flights just four days ago, which means that shortly, besides Emirates, [U.S.] airlines will provide direct flights [to Greece] every month of the year,” the minister said, adding “it is very important that the extension of the tourism season is not limited to promises but is acted upon.”

The Kikilias says that a busy season is expected, and Greece has to be ready with enough available airplane slots at airports.
